Setting sail from Cairo
We love this noisy, dusty, busy city. Expect a warm welcome everywhere you go - Egypt goes through hard times so often that its tourism industry suffers a constant roller-coaster ride of highs and lows. More or less everyone has a financial interest in ensuring tourists continue to visit, and the country, and Cairo itself, really has so much to offer. The highlight of your stay may well be the Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza, but don't neglect a visit to the Egyptian Museum, which has a truly stupendous collection of ancient artefacts, including the Tutankhamen treasures.
Our tip
Go for the VIP meet and assist on arrival at Cairo airport – money well spent for a totally relaxing start.

Don't miss
It sort of goes without saying, but don’t miss the pyramids and sphinx at Giza, and the Egyptian Museum – even if you don’t normally visit museums.

The striking interiors showcase decor from local artisans, with regionally sourced materials including Egyptian cottons, marble and hand-carved wood.
