Rome & La Dolce Vita Orient Express
Board your flight from the UK to Rome and transfer to La Minerva, the first Orient Express hotel. After a night here transfer to Rome Ostiense station to join the newly launched one-of-a-kind train: La Dolce Vita Orient Express, blending classic and Art Deco styles with modern elegance. Enjoy an overnight all-inclusive journey through the wineries of Tuscany and Montalcino before another night in Rome and La Minerva, before the following day transferring to Civitavecchia to embark Crystal Symphony.

The picturesque little town of Amalfi was once a major Mediterranean naval power, but a devastating earthquake in 1343 cut the city down in its prime and destroyed most of its historic buildings. These days, of course, Amalfi is best known for the eponymous stretch of stunning coastline on which it sits.

The faded port town of Livorno serves as a gateway to Tuscany’s star attractions. Wonderful Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, is resplendent with beautiful architecture and unrivalled artistic treasures, while nearby Pisa is of course famous for its precarious Leaning Tower.

Santa Margherita is Portofino without the bling, a photogenic yet down-to-earth place where yachts bob in the water and elegant hotels overlook the lovely seafront promenade. Relax and enjoy the view, or use the town as a base for exploring the beaches and picturesque towns of the Ligurian coast.

Arriving in Monte Carlo
Renowned for its casino, its Grand Prix and its oligarch-friendly tax policies, Monte Carlo is glamour and hedonism personified, with a price tag to match. Wedged between Italy and France on the Côte d'Azur, this little principality enjoys a lovely setting, the villas and penthouses tumbling down the hillside towards the sweeping blue expanse of the Mediterranean. Most visitors won't feel the need (or be able to afford) to stay more than a day or two, but the Prince's Palace and the Oceanographic Museum are both well worth a visit. Enter the casino at your own risk...

If you have the slightest interest in Formula One, you will want to walk the course – 3.34 km through narrow twisted streets and tunnels. Next time you watch the Grand Prix here it will mean so much more to you.
