Setting sail from Naples
Naples has a reputation as a rough and ready sort of place, but there's an undeniable vitality to the city, perhaps as a result of living in the shadow of dormant Mount Vesuvius. The UNESCO World Heritage-listed city centre rewards exploration, and in addition to the many cultural treasures waiting to be unearthed Neapolitans are rightly proud of their food; this is where you'll find the best pizza in Italy. The city also acts as a gateway to the fascinating remains of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the beautiful Amalfi coast, and the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida.

Napoli Sotteranea, an extraordinary honeycomb of underground caverns and tunnels, including ruins from Greek and Roman times, and reminders of a much more recent history.

Italy: Capri
The captivating island of Capri has much to offer, from the ruins of Roman villas to gorgeous private residences surrounded by flower-filled gardens. You might also want to explore the famous Blue Grotto, with its intense azure interior and ethereal silvery light.

Lipari is the largest of the Aeolian Islands, a volcanic archipelago to the north of Sicily. The main port is Lipari Town, a charming little harbour of pastel-coloured houses, fishing boats and enticing restaurants, overlooked by the imposing 13th century citadel.

Italy: Agropoli
Agropoli is a popular summer resort town on the Cilento coast of southern Italy, with a pleasant historic core and some interesting churches. Most visitors are lured here by the beautiful beaches of Trentova Bay, situated just to the southwest of the town.
